2007 Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Joseph Phelps is a very famous producer in California. This winery is best known for its flagship wine “Insignia”, which obviously is one of the greatest wines in this world been cellared by wine professionals as well as wine enthusiasts.

This wine although is one of the entry wines of the winery, it still holds its weight as a wine from the Joseph Phelps Vineyard. On the nose it has notes of black current, blackberry, licorice, tobacco and some floral notes. On the palate, it is elegant and smooth initially, but then opens up with very nice fruitiness and structure. It has a nice long final with some mineral tone. This wine is not the flagship, but it is definitely a pleasure.

DWA rating: 8/10…………Highly Recommended. Must Try.

FYI: Still very young, needs an hour after decanting before the wine started to show its potentials.
