Washington State is the second largest wine producing state in US just behind California. The majority grapes in this region is mostly Chardonnay, Riesling, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. The cool and dry climates makes this an excellent wine growing region. The Columbia Valley AVA is the largest viticultural area in this region which accounts for 95% of the production of this state.
This Merlot from Chateau Ste Michelle is very aromatic with dark berries, cherries, plum, spices and oak. The taste is very similar to the nose , very rich dark berry flavor with smooth acidity and a nice spicy finish. This is a very good merlot for its price and can be found in almost any grocery store therefore it is highly recommended.
DWA rating: 8/10……….. Highly recommended. Must Try.
