2008 Hugel Gewürztraminer

Gewürztraminer is definitely one of the hardest grape varieties to pronounce. Then again, if I were able to pronounce half the stuff in wine world, I would be singing and talking on Youtube instead of typing my life away here. Just Kidding....!!!! Back to Vino. This is one of the less popular (possibly the spelling itself is a big vocabulary), but extremely flavorful wines. This is also one of the fabulous grapes from Alsace.

This Gewürztraminer is from Hugel, one of the oldest Alsace producers. On the nose, it has some oak, pepper, citris, and mineral. The taste however is more juicy than dry, with very refreshing taste and good acidity balance. There is a special spicy taste at the end with its long long finish. It is a very flavorful and powerful wine.

DWA rating: 7.5……….Recommended. Very good table wine.
